Directory & Third-Party Policy

1. Purpose

This policy covers how BoatMe presents contractors, marine suppliers, clubs, sea rescue organisations and insurance providers in its directories, and the limited role we play between those parties and boat owners. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions of Use.

2. Listing does not mean endorsement

BoatMe does not promote, endorse, recommend or guarantee any contractor, supplier, club, sea rescue organisation or insurance provider. Directory listings, badges and featured placements do not represent that a business is qualified, licensed, insured, competent or suitable for your job. They do not create any agency, partnership, employment or joint venture between BoatMe and any listed party.

3. Contractors

Insurance: contractors must maintain their own business or public liability insurance and any licences or qualifications required by law. Any insurance badge shown reflects expiry details the contractor supplied. We do not sight policies, verify cover, or warrant that insurance is current or adequate.
Owner's responsibility: it is the boat owner's sole responsibility to verify a contractor's qualifications, licences, references and insurance before engaging them, and to agree price, scope and terms directly with the contractor.
Contract and payment: any work agreement is solely between the owner and the contractor. BoatMe is not a party to it, does not receive commission on work, does not hold funds and does not mediate disputes.
Liability: claims for defective or negligent work must be directed to the contractor (and their insurer). See section 6 of our Terms & Conditions for our liability position and waiver.

4. Sea rescue organisations

Sea rescue listings are free and are provided as a community safety resource. Details (call signs, VHF channels, addresses, coverage) are supplied by the station or compiled from public sources and displayed as provided.
Trip log emails are a convenience service only. They do not replace legally required log-on procedures (VHF or telephone). A station receiving a trip log does not thereby assume any duty of care for the vessel, and neither does BoatMe.
Stations may request corrections, updates or removal of their listing at any time via hello@boatme.com.au.

5. Clubs, suppliers and insurance providers

Club and supplier listings are informational. Club membership, events and fleet arrangements remain entirely between the club and its members.
Insurance provider listings are general information only. BoatMe does not sell, arrange or advise on insurance, is not an authorised representative of any insurer, and holds no Australian Financial Services Licence. Product decisions and claims are matters between the owner and their insurer or broker.

6. Listing standards and removal

We may decline, edit for format, or remove any listing at our discretion, including where information appears inaccurate, out of date, misleading or unlawful, or where a party asks to be removed.
Listings are not sold or ranked by payment in the shared directory. Paid advertising is clearly labelled and governed by our Advertising Policy.
